Over the line / Crossing the line

It is the sanction sentence launched by the referee when the shot putter or the long jumper crosses the white line, the one which decrees that we respect or not the rules of the game. It is an invisible border which (de) limit. 

The lines that cross the works brought together in the collective exhibition “Over The Line” have all the rights. They rise or undulate to represent the intangible (Jan Van Munster) or interior landscapes (Morgan Dimnet – Qubo Gas, Theresa Möller). They become writing, in snatches of provocative sentences, sometimes cynical and nevertheless poetic, forcing us to read between the lines (Delage + Olson). They leave traces, cracks in reality to open up a universe much larger than the one we know (David De Beyter, Marc-Antoine Garnier). Finally, these lines reflect what we want to project on them (Thomas Devaux).

To cross the line is to go beyond the visible or the rational to access another reality, enigmatic and stimulating, which only artists are capable of opening up.
