BÉRANGÈRE FROMONT

For the 2025 edition, the Bacqueville Gallery is pleased to present a solo show by Bérangère Fromont in the Emerging Artists section, bringing together a new selection from her ‘République’ series.

The Place de la République in Paris represents the legacy of the Enlightenment. It defies social categorisation. Through it, Bérangère Fromont paints a fragmented portrait of a city torn between moments of revolt and moments of peace. She captures these two forces in constant equilibrium by telling the story of a place that has witnessed collective history. She photographs young people, marked by the recent past and anxiety about the future, as a living metaphor for this tension, their faces isolated, struck by the sun, their bodies floating in the light, the clamour of the world suspended for a moment, ready to resurface with renewed vigour. Like skateboarders who tirelessly throw themselves into the void to find balance on the edge of the precipice, resisting the fall, seeking the point of support that comes from grace. Finding beauty in the fragility of this precise place between life and death, the encounter between an infinitesimal gesture and an event of light.
