RESSOUVENIR

Galerie Bacqueville is delighted to present the first solo show of visual artist Manon Sarah Thirriot.

Manon Sarah Thirriot's work in sculpture, photography and installation revolves around the notion of landscape, exploring questions of perception and representation. Her inspiration comes first and foremost from wandering. From her travels, she gleans elements that she reinterprets and contextualizes with other sources, notably art history, the natural sciences and vernacular know-how. To her creative process, she adds other professions from the fields of science and craft.

This first solo show at Galerie Bacqueville, entitled "Ressouvenir", will present a body of new pieces, created especially for the occasion, distinguished by the use of an ancestral practice: marquetry. After a decisive apprenticeship with an artisan in Florence, Manon Sarah Thirriot exploits this medium in a singular way, combining photography with woodworking. Each piece becomes the stage for her memories of the spaces she has traversed. Sensitive cartographies without precise coordinates or geography, her compositions interweave narratives and temporalities linked to perceptions of the landscape. And in the hollow, his marquetry evokes the relationship between man and landscape over time.

EXCEPTIONAL COLLABORATION

Keen to continue this movement between France and New Zealand, art and craft, nature and landscape, Manon Sarah Thirriot has invited floral designer Maureen Michel to work with the linen at the heart of the exhibition. Here and there it takes on different forms, reacting to the works and the space, fine punctuations opening up to other imaginations, to new narratives.

Founder of miö flora, Maureen Michel draws her inspiration from minimalism and botanical art to develop a language that seeks balance in form, texture and nuance. In a constant exchange between the expressive power of living things and the search for harmony, she creates ephemeral installations and suspended landscapes that are celebrations of nature.
