Galerie Bacqueville is delighted to present a solo exhibition of Dominic Grisor's new series of paintings.
We live in a world of aberrations, that's what Grisor's new paintings try to show us. A world in which nature offers a critical counterpoint to the culture that surrounds it (a culture whose very term will soon be replaced by ‘technology’). Eagles, dogs and monkeys become the silent witnesses to these wanderings, the only thrilling presences in deserted landscapes where the human exisence is only hinted at. It is their freedom and their distance from things that we envy more than ever.
As usual, Grisor combines substance - a subtly caustic reflection on our contemporary world - and form, with a technique as virtuoso as ever in the precision of the motifs, the retranscription of the circadian cycle, from dawn to dusk, to the nothingness of space, and the remarkable work on framing and off-screen.
Exhibition from 25 April to 7 June 2025.
Opening on Friday 25 April, 6.30pm - 9.30pm.
