NORMAN DILWORTH
BÉRANGÈRE FROMONT

The Bacqueville Gallery is pleased to present a dialogue between Norman Dilworth and Bérangère Fromont at the 2025 edition of the Armory Show through a selection of works that embody a fruitful tension between formal rigour and emotional intensity.

Norman Dilworth, a historic figure in European geometric abstraction, has been exploring the potentialities of rhythm, emptiness and movement since the 1960s through modular structures of radical precision. In apparent contrast, Bérangère Fromont's République series captures contemporary fragility through intuitive, deeply embodied photography, in which bodies and territory—the famous Place de la République in Paris—become spaces of resistance. This unexpected juxtaposition highlights two ways of capturing reality: through order and through the senses. These are two forms of artistic radicalism, one constructed, the other lived, which challenge and respond to each other. By bringing these two approaches together, the gallery aims to offer an experience that is both intellectual and emotional.
